Emirate of Sharjah expands presence in Ukraine

Representatives of the Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority recently met leading Ukrainian tour operators in Kyiv to discuss joint projects and expand collaboration.
Ukraine is a key market for the Emirate of Sharjah and statistics for the first quarter of 2017 demonstrate a significant growth in tourism flows. During the visit to Kyiv, Odessa, and L’viv, representatives of the Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority stated that they are trying to actively promote the Emirate as an attractive tourist and business destination and expand collaboration with leading tour operators in Ukraine.
In partnership with Air Arabia (the Sharjah-based budget airline), the Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority held a breakfast event on 19 July at the Kyiv InterContinental Hotel, attended by more than 50 representatives of Ukraine’s tourism industry. Representatives of the Authority talked about the Emirate’s distinctive appeal, its increased number of hotels, cultural heritage sites, and tourist attractions, opportunities for activities and shopping trips, and venues for business events.
The Emirate of Sharjah is developing in leaps and bounds, offering different types of leisure and entertainment. As well as festivals, sporting competitions, and events throughout the year, Sharjah is also actively developing opportunities for eco-tourism and nature holidays. This year, Kalba Kingfisher Lodge, a five-star eco-resort in a mangrove nature reserve, will open on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. The complex will consist of 20 luxury tents with private swimming pools and stunning views of the Indian Ocean and rare plants and wildlife in the mangrove forest.
2019 will see the Mleiha Desert Resort open, the first five-star resort in the Mleiha archaeological and eco-tourism complex. The luxury resort will consist of 45 designer villas, based on traditional Bedouin tents, several restaurants and cafés, a health centre, and a swimming pool. Over the next two years, a 27km cycle path through Sharjah, Ajman, and Dubai will be built, and the new Seih Al Bardi Park wildlife centre will open, hosting more than 50,000 rare animals from across the world.
One of the Emirate’s priorities is to promote itself as a popular destination for family holidays. It offers varying options for accommodating families, with playgrounds in its parks, interactive exhibits in its museums, and children’s menus in its restaurants.
