Record tourism flow from Ukraine to Turkey in 2017

The number of Ukrainian citizens hopping over the Black Sea to holiday in Turkey in the first nine months of 2017 has reached a record 1.118 million, 23% more than the same period in 2016.

“According to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of Ukrainian tourists has not only continued stable growth, but has reached a record. From January-September 2017, Ukraine maintained its position in Turkey’s top 10 tourism source countries, coming in at number 7. During this period, 1,118,032 Ukrainians visited Turkey, which is 23.16% more than the same period in 2016,” reports the Office of Culture and Information of the Turkish Embassy in Kyiv.

1 million Ukrainian tourists is a strong figure, one that took until December to reach in 2016. This gives plenty more time to increase figures further this year.

As previously reported, Antalya and Istanbul remain the most popular among Ukrainians, as well as the Muğla province – Fethiye, Dalaman, Bodrum, and Marmaris.

Between January-October 2017, Antalya saw a 25% rise in Ukrainian tourists: 710,871 in total. During January-September, Istanbul saw 226,957 tourists from Ukraine, 3.9% more than that period in 2016, while saw 134,000 Ukrainians visited the Muğla province, 40.8% more than last year.
