The most popular tourist destinations among Ukrainians this winter have been named

News
Egypt remains the most popular destination among Ukrainian tourists in the winter season 2021-2022, as it was a year ago.

This is evidenced by internal statistics released by one of the largest tour operators in Ukraine Join UP!

In second place is Turkey, as usual. And then there are certain changes: last year's bronze medalist UAE moved to the fourth place, and this year's European destinations Greece (3rd place) and Spain (5th) broke into the top 5 of the most popular destinations. However, Tanzania and Ukraine, which were ranked the 4th and the 5th respectively last year, have fallen out of the top 5 this year.

Overall, according to Join UP! as of October 2021, 59,499 tourists had already booked tours for the period from 1 October 2021 to 30 March 2022. Last year, there were almost half as many - 32,498. However, the pre-pandemic figures for 2019 have not yet been reached, when 79,819 Ukrainian travellers booked tours for the same period.

At the same time, according to the tour operator's press service, the price situation on the tourist market is not even. Those countries which managed not to close their borders even benefited, because travellers chose them. As a result, demand grew and, for example, in Egypt, the minimum price per tour (for 7 nights in a double room) has risen over the past three years: from $200 in 2019/20 to $220 in 2020/21 and to $240 in 2021/22. At the same time, a similar holiday in Greece costs the same this season. And some destinations are holding prices at the same level. For example, the minimum price in winter Turkey has been $180 for two years.

«Development of tourist destinations, as before, depends on the anti-pandemic restrictions. We can see that demand exists and exceeds the available supply, but a true recovery can only be talked about once all borders are fully opened. However, this winter travellers have a much wider choice: ski resorts from Turkey to Georgia, Slovakia or our Carpathian Mountains, beach holidays in Egypt, the UAE or the island of Zanzibar, as well as long awaited city breaks in Europe. Therefore Christmas holidays or just a winter holiday can be spent, wherever you wish - everything depends on your imagination,» - explained the Head of development at Join UP!, Ekaterina Artyukh.

As reported UNIAN, November 9, 2021 the EU officially removed Ukraine from the «green list», recommending the EU countries to temporarily ban travellers from our country. However, most European countries subsequently announced that they would not be closed to tourists from Ukraine.
