Sphinx Alley opening ceremony was held in Luxor. The Alley is located between two city's oldest temples.
Hundreds of artists recreated elements of an ancient festival at the site in a colourful ceremony, the BBC reported.
Construction of the Alley had began under Pharaoh Thutmose III and Queen Hatshepsut. In ancient Egypt, the road was used for solemn processions.
The Alley is almost 3 km long, and is about 3,000 years old. Archaeologists have spent several decades excavating it.
In total, there are more than 1,000 sphinx figures along the Alley. Egyptian authorities hope that the opening of the Sphinx Alley will attract tourists to the country after a series of political turmoils and the coronavirus pandemic.
